Riding lesson equipment
Proper equipment is important for horseback riding correctly and safely. We understand that parents may want to see if their beginner rider is truly interested before making large purchases. Therefore, we have listed the necessary equipment in phases. Your instructor will gladly assist you in making your purchases.
At the first lesson
This is mandatory!
Long, straight-leg jeans
Shoes with a one-inch heel
Tennis shoes are not allowed
Safety helmet (can be borrowed from the stable)
Week 3
It is time to purchase your own riding helmet! Please ask for assistance. Also, proper riding boots will be needed. These are short leather paddock boots. Tall boots or rubber boots are not acceptable for youngsters.
At two months
Riding pants and chaps or half-chaps, and riding gloves.
Many frequent riders find it convenient to purchase their own saddle. This isn’t mandatory, but is something to discuss with your instructor.
